The hotel's exterior renovations were completed in November 2011, and the Northland Inn Hotel and Conference Center has now begun the second phase of its $24 million investment and evolution to become a cornerstone property in the Marriott Hotels family. The most notable exterior changes include the addition of new limestone and granite stonework and ornamental metalwork to the porte cochere, which have created a more dramatic sense of arrival. Additional exterior upgrades completed include the addition of a new roof, new exterior lighting, and a newly painted building exterior. A few additional exterior upgrades will wait until warmer weather next spring, including landscaping and a new irrigation system.
With the majority of our exterior renovation work now behind us, we have turned our attention to our current phase of renovations, which include guest rooms and meeting space. Currently, our 230-room hotel has space to handle meetings for up to 600 guests, but will be able to handle meetings for up to 700 guests after renovations are complete, thanks to the addition of a new ballroom. All other meeting space areas will also be completely updated including our 140-seat amphitheatre, executive board room, and 25 meeting break-out rooms. All guest rooms will be completely refurbished with the most modern Marriott guestroom package.
After our guest rooms and meeting space renovations are complete, we will begin renovations on our lobby area and restaurants including updating our front desk area to Marriott's signature front desk reception pods, adding a massive natural stone fireplace to the lobby to create a Great Room, dramatically expanding the fitness center including the addition of state-of-the-art fitness equipment, and creating a new restaurant concept.
